Betty Anne Edwards Long
Betty Anne Edwards Long, 69, passed away at her home on October 25, 2019 with her loving family by her side. Betty was born on December 10, 1949 in Franklin, VA, the daughter of Joseph C. and Edith Davis Edwards.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. Her smile was contagious and everyone who met her loved her.
Betty Anne was raised in Pendleton, NC and graduated from Northampton County High School and Chowan College. She worked for the North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service Office in Northampton County and in most recent years at McKellar Law Firm, Jackson, NC. She was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church and served as organist and pianist for over 40 years.
She was predeceased by her father, Joseph C. Edwards, Jr. and her in-laws, Windell and Lorraine Long. Left to cherish her memory are her mother, Edith Davis Edwards, loving husband of 47 wonderful years, Leslie Windell Long, their children Jason Windell Long and Lisa Rose, Leigh Anne Parks and Robert Brown and darling grandson, Jacob Windell Parks. Siblings include Bobby Joe Edwards and wife, Beth Pruden Edwards, Patsy Edwards Marks and husband, Robert F. Marks, III, Sallie Edwards Smith and husband, David N. Smith. Her brother in law, Jesse Long and wife, Anita, sister in law, Susan Long Flythe and husband, James. Numerous nieces and nephews to include Kathryn Long Wilson and husband, Brian, Margaret Long Hatfield and husband, Nathan, Jeremy Flythe and wife, Jen, Melissa Flythe Decker and husband, Michael, Abigail Edwards Foy and husband, Steve, Joseph A. Edwards and wife Georgana, Bobby Thomas Edwards and fiancé, Virginia Fulenwider, and Caroline Edwards, Kelly Marks Russell, Megan Marks Harrell and husband, Brodie, Robert F. Marks IV and wife, Mary. She has several loving aunts, great nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, Seaboard, NC on Tuesday, October 29, 2018 at 11:00 am with burial to follow at Seaboard Cemetery, Seaboard, NC.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the physicians, nurses and staff at UNC Rex Healthcare, Raleigh, NC for their wonderful care and compassion.
